The Band

Ian Boccio (voice, harmonium) began singing kirtan in 2005 after many years as the bass guitarist in rock bands around Los Angeles and Philadelphia, where he also worked as a recording engineer and music producer. He has been making an intensive study of the theory and practical aspects of Sanskrit and Mantra Yoga under the guidance of his teacher, Sri Karunamayi, fusing the insights gained through his yoga practice and his musical experience into powerful, new compositions. He is also the co-owner of Ananda Bhav Yoga in the North Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, GA.

Phil McWilliams (voice, guitars, banjo)

Brihaspati (percussion) has been a professional drummer for most of his life, so it is natural that after a career change to social work, music continues to be a vital part of his experience. At the dawn of the new millennium he discovered the Ishaya's Ascension and began the meditation practice that ultimately led to taking Apprenticeship Vows and having a Sanskrit name cognized by his teacher, Aramati Ishaya. Brihaspati means 'the personification of the power of ritualized devotion' and symbolizes the essence of his kirtan experience, as a life long love for music is married with the intensity of his spiritual practice.

Amanda Feinstein (voice, kartals) attended her first kirtan with Krishna Das in 2004, where she fell in love with the practice of chanting the Divine names as a path to "cleansing the mirror of the heart." Since that time she has been involved in yoga and kirtan community in New York City, Philadelphia, and now Atlanta, a journey that has magically unfolded with the grace of Sri Neem Karoli Baba. In addition to singing and playing music, Amanda is a full-time doctoral student studying clinical psychology with an emphasis on mindfulness-based therapies, and has been teaching therapeutic yoga to people with chronic pain for the past five years.
